Nick Laurence announced as Seagulls third Rider

The Eastbourne Seagulls powered by Save Thurrock Hammers speedway are delighted to announce Nick Laurence as the third rider of their 2020/21 Midland Southern Development League squad.

The 30 year old has ridden for The Mildenhall Fen Tigers and The Eagles in the National League during his career and will also be well known to Hammers fans after riding for the Essex club during their National League campaign in 2017 and as part of their nomadic teams since.

Nick has also ridden for Reading Racers in the Southern Development League, helping them to secure the titles in 2017 & 2018.  Along with being Richard Lawson’s mechanic for the Eagles, he also captained the Racers MSDL team in 2019.

The Arlington local commented:

“I’m excited to be riding for The Seagulls, being as they are my local team.  I am looking forward to getting some laps in, and by being one of the more experienced riders in the squad, helping the others in the team wherever I can.

Seagulls Team Manager Mark Sexton added:

“As a previous Number 1 in the SDL, most recently with the Reading Racers, and with a few years’ experience in the NL, we’re definitely expecting Nick to lead the Seagulls from the front points-wise.

He should have the beating of most riders, especially around Arlington and as a self-described ‘rascal’ (see his Twitter profile), we know Nick will also bring a sense of fun to the pits!”
