Hammers Septet complete

The Thurrock Hammers have announced their select team to take on the Kent TouchTec Kings in the Tunnel Trophy challenge match at Central Park stadium, this coming Bank Holiday Monday (6th May) – with tapes up at 4.00pm.

The side selected by the Thurrock Hammers Ltd management with the assistance of 2018 Hammers Team Manager Will Pottinger,  SCB Manager and former Hammers team boss Neil Vatcher and National League Co-ordinator Jason Pipe aims to provide a competitive edge to challenge the Sittingbourne based side, who include former Hammer Rob Ledwith, and teen sensation Drew Kemp in their line-up.

Hammers Director Mark Sexton commented

“We’ve built a team to the 38 point limit agreed with Len Silver based around riders who are firm Hammers favourites, riders who have supported both the Hammers and our cause in previous seasons, whilst also giving a nod to the riders of the future, which is something we at the Thurrock Hammers are passionate about”

Last year’s Hammers and current Championship riders Alfie Bowtell and Ben Morley will form a strong spearhead along with former Kent King Nathan Stoneman.

Nick Laurence, who epitomised the team ethos of the Hammers during their 2017 National League campaign is joined by Danno Verge, the Isle of Wight Warrior, who helped a Hammers select team defend the “Tunnel Trophy” at Sittingbourne last season.

The reserves are ex- King William O’Keefe and current Birmingham Bull Sheldon Davies with the Hammers keen to provide both youngsters with additional competitive action.

Sexton continued: “We hope that this can be the first of a number of challenge meetings raced by our nomadic Hammers team as we continue our Campaign to Return to Thurrock, and we hope that many Hammers fans make the trip to Central Park to catch up with old acquaintances whilst enjoying what we are sure will be competitive action”
