Hammers defeat the Fen Tigers

The Thurrock AsMATT Hammers delivered a convincing  56 -32 win over a depleted Mildenhall Fen Tigers team at West Row.

Ben Morley top scored for the Hammers with 14, backed by Alfie Bowtell 11, Connor King 10, Alex Spooner 9, Jack Kingston 6 and Harrison Rogers 6.

Hammers Director and Team Manager Mark Sexton commented:

“We’re obviously delighted to win so convincingly, but have to acknowledge that the Fen Tigers were severely handicapped by the early loss of Kenzie Cossey and Scott Campos.

Despite the final score, there was some excellent racing on a well prepared circuit. Our thanks go to the Mildenhall management team and we look forward to returning to West Row in the near future.

“On an individual basis, it was particularly satisfying to see Harrison Rogers win his first heat in Hammers colours, we certainly saw the best version of Connor King this evening and Alex Spooner was the night’s thrill merchant with a couple of audacious passes.

By his own admission, Jack Kingston’s night could and should have yielded more points but his ability to win races is there for everyone to see and, at the top end of the team, Alfie Bowtell and Ben Morley set the tone right from the first race and were in dominant form all evening”.

The Hammers next take to the track tomorrow (Sunday 20th September)  when they take part in a three team tournament against The Kent Eagles and the Norwich Stars at Iwade.  Gates open at 10am with tapes up at Midday.
