Hammers set for busy weekend of track action

The Thurrock AsMATT Hammers are set for a busy weekend of track action when they take part in two Nora based meetings.

First up is a clash in Suffolk against the Mildenhall Fen Tigers at West Row this Saturday (19th September) followed by a trip to Kent on Sunday (20th September) when they take part in a three team tournament against the Kent Eagles and The Norwich Young Stars at Iwade.

Looking ahead to the clashes, Hammers Director Mark Sexton commented:

“After a 3 month gap without any on track action, it will be a real thrill to be able to see not just one,  but two Hammers teams in action this weekend.

At Mildenhall, we have put together a team that really represents Essex with 5 of the team having been born in the county and with all 6 riders having done plenty of laps at the much missed Arena Essex Raceway. 

Our focus on selecting local riders is key as we continue to work relentlessly behind the scenes to return the sport to its original home in Thurrock.

On Sunday, we are delighted to have recruited the services of Billericay born Jason Edwards, one of the busiest riders in the whole of British speedway,  to further illustrate the depth of local talent and interest.

Our opponents at both tracks are going to be very tough nuts to crack but we’re grateful for the opportunities and definitely up for the challenge! “
