Kent Kings vs The Thurrock Hammers

Sunday 19th May 2024 2pm

After a gap of just over two years, the famous ‘Crossed Hammers’ bib will be back on track on Sunday 19th May 2024 when we travel to the Old Gun Site in Iwade to take our closest neighbours and recently one of our fiercest rivals, the Kent Kings. (tapes up 2pm)

Matches over the past few years have seen both teams score wins but, with the Hammers trackless since 2018, the Kings have always had home advantage!!

The meeting will be a ‘Nora’ Challenge fixture run over 15 heats and will feature 6-man teams and fans will be able to watch many of the region’s favourite riders, including Hammers legend, Ben Morley, who is the Kings’ current number one.

The Nora Challenge meetings are mainly offering riders who are not currently riding in the National Development League the chance to race in competitive fixtures and the Hammers team for this fixture will feature at least 4 riders who are in that situation + one recent superstar who used his time with the Hammers as a springboard to go on to much bigger and better things!

We are currently finalising the side and will announce our riders shortly.

With the help of existing sponsors and our Directors, Thurrock Hammers Ltd is underwriting the costs of putting the team on track but if you, our supporters, would like to ‘get on board’ to make sure that all our riders are as competitive on track as possible, we would really appreciate your support.

There are three ways you can help:

Golden Hammer Package:

£75 per person to include free entry to the meeting, a match day programme and a photograph with the whole team PLUS the chance to view a race, or two, from the centre green

(Maximum of 10 individual packages available)

Silver Hammer Package:

£50 per person to include free entry to the meeting, a match day programme and a photo with the team.

Bronze Hammer Package:

£25 per person to include a match day programme and a photo with your favourite rider

We also have a wide range of other sponsorship options available to suit all budgets.

Please contact Mark Sexton on mark@thurrockhammers.com or call on 07951 698363 if you’d like to be part of the Hammers support team on May 19th!!

Any surplus funds raised will be used to fund the continuing campaign to return speedway to Thurrock.

Thank you as ever for all your support and we look forward to seeing you ‘trackside’ on the 19 th May.
