Hammers take on The Warriors
The Thurrock ‘AsMATT Ltd’ Hammers are delighted to confirm our participation in a challenge match against The Wightlink Warriors at their Isle of Wight Smallbrook Stadium, on Tuesday the 9th of September (Gates 5.15pm – Tapes up 7pm)
The Nora style meeting will see two teams of six riders taking on the pacy Smallbrook track, and the Hammers are delighted to confirm that teenage sensation Cooper Rushen will spearhead the Hammers attack.
Rushen from Colchester, Essex, has set the National Development League alight in 2025 with stunning performances for the Kings Lynn Young Stars and the Leicester Lion Cubs.
Ahead of the clash, which will be followed by a Junior Championship, Hammers Director Mark Sexton commented:
“A first trip to the Isle of Wight for the Thurrock Hammers represents another significant milestone for us and we’re very grateful to Barry Bishop and Martin Widman for the opportunity to take the Hammers ‘on the road’ again.
We’ve been very busy off track recently as many of you will have seen with our objection to the planning application for The Raceway, so it’s important that we can also enjoy the thrill of some on track action!
After providing some initial sponsorship, we’re delighted to finally be able to introduce Cooper as a Hammer. The remainder of our team will be announced this week and we look forward to seeing as many Hammers fans as possible at Smallbrook next week.”
